  1. Posey, Braun, McCutcheon by the thinnest of margins.

    Braun has the best stats in a lot of categories, but this season still floats under a bit of a cloud for me — that technicality that cleared him of his failed test bugs me a bit.

    McCutcheon’s team collapsed when he slumped and he couldn’t pick them back up. Normally, that wouldn’t bother me, but the MVP race isn’t normally such a tight 3-horse race.

    Posey has great stats for the style of player that he is, which *isn’t* a slugger. He plays a premium position, doesn’t exactly have lineup protection (Braun and Aramis Ramirez were 1-2 in the NL in XBH), and led his team to the playoffs in a pretty close race for a lot of the season.
